Meet Our Production Team


Samantha McDermott - Writer/Director

A transplant from New York to Colorado and a graduate of Columbia University, Samantha has been in theater her entire life. She has worked as an actor, stagehand, lighting designer, and stage manager all over the county. In 2005 she directed 2 plays put up at Manhattan’s Theater Studio Inc., Punchline and Did Ya See The Masked Man? In 2011 she directed Flaming of the Shrew at The Betsy Stage. She is thrilled to be working with the wonderful women at The Betsy and hand-in-hand with The Bard again!

Jerian Franco - Writer/Artistic Director

With early beginnings in charity theater, Jerian is an author and a playwright. She has more than a decade of experience in the freelance visual display and design world for his profile names such as Neiman Marcus, Bergdorff Goodman, and other showrooms throughout Manhattan.

Kim Franco - Music Director

Kim started her musical career at a young age studying theater, voice, and piano at Sam Houston State University and performing for Houston’s Theatre Under the Stars. After obtaining her audio engineering degree, she moved to Boulder, CO where she began her decade long tenure performing nationally and internationally with Cabaret Diosa wth whom she starred in over 200 performances a year. As a percussionist, keyboardist, singer, and improv artist, Franco shared the stage with James Brown, Santana, Dr. John, and Harry Belafonte at festivals such as The New Orleans Jazz Festival and the High Sierra Music Festival. She is the co-author and producer of the original musical Ciao Eden! and continues to write'/produce plays and musical revues.

Tom Payetta - Sound Engineer

Tom has worked in regional theater as a technician, sound designer, actor, and writer. He has produced and engineered music projects in a diverse array of styles and toured with such artists as the subdues, Steve Conn, Opie Gone Bad, and Matt Morris. He played Grumio in last season’s The Flaming of the Shrew and is proud to be back for another exciting season at The Betsy Stage.

Rob Harris - Lighting Designer

Rob graduated from Loretto Heights College with a theater degree. He has worked as a lighting designer for Paramount Theatre, Galleria Theater, The Botanic Gardens, State of the Arts Dance, Littleton Dance Ballet, and the Jenny Schiff Dance Collective. He was honored to light Flaming of the Shrew in 2011 at The Betsy Stage

Jennifer McCray - Stage Manager/Board Op

Jennifer has two degrees - one for Music/Video Productions and the other Communications/Theater. She has over 15 years experience as Stage Manager and Light and Sound Operator and has held other positions, such as camera operator, actor, assistant director/producer, and assistant coordinator in the Denver area. She has worked for The Denver Center of the Performing Arts The Comedy Works, The Bluebird Theatre, Rocky Mountain PBS, Master Mid Productions, Tir Na nOg (an Irish Theater), The Avenue Theatre, and was Assistant Producer for the Jefferson Symphony Orchestra summer concerts. This is her second production with The Betsy Stage.

Shannon McAndrews - General Manager

A native New Yorker, Shannon has an extensive advertising and marketing background. She is excited to use the skills acquired in her advertising career and apply them to one of her passions - live theater. Being part of The Betsy Stage and Lucky 20 Productions family and joining the Denver arts community is a tremendous opportunity that is extremely appreciative for.
